The St. Francis Healing Service The St. Francis Healing Service is a time set aside to pray for the physical, emotional, and spiritual healing for anyone who is in need. We invite you to join us in a time of worship and prayer each Wednesday at 3:00 pm in the chapel.
We also offer informal prayer services in the chapel following our Sunday morning worship service at 11:15 am. Members of the church are on hand and available to pray with you.
A healing service in the Christian tradition is performed by a Healing Practitioner that has been given the gift of healing by GOD. The practitioner does not heal, but has the GOD given ability to call upon our Lord and Savior to heal those by prayer, laying on of hands and anointing with oil. Healing can be body, mind, and spirit. The act of healing is scriptural and is found in 1 Corinthians 12:9.
Christian healing affirms the historical Creeds (Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian). The service is comprised of prayers, hymns, laying on of hands, and anointing with oil in the name of Jesus Christ. At St. Francis, many who have been healed return weekly and have actually become a loving, family group declaring that they feel the Holy Spirit when they enter our little, historical chapel.
There are three types of healing - Body, Mind, and Spirit. No matter what your problem, hurt, or infirmity is, God is there for you.
To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
Luke 9:1-2
And he called the twelve together and gave them the power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.
James 5:13-16 (New International Version)
The Prayer of Faith
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
" I would highly recommend anyone, of any denomination, or lack thereof, to try out this healing service. Come for praise, prayer and anointing from Fr. Milton Gibson and experience the Holy Spirit in this small 100+ year old chapel at St. Francis at the Point. And like instructed...the group prays for others and helped me feel supported and loved. I was not a Christian when I first came, but boy am I now. Come and experience it for yourself. You may find Jesus and get hooked like I did." - Gale Ellerbrake
Quotes
Christian healing is a lifelong process which occurs by the sovereign grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Our transformative growth towards wholeness (shalom) is made complete when we die and are restored to God for eternity. (van Loon, 2004)
